Topic: Anwar remain detention overnight

A lawyer says Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim will remain in detention overnight after being arrested for allegedly sodomizing a former male aide.
Counsel Sankara Nair says the police "excuse is that they need to take further statements" from Anwar.
He said he has no idea how long Anwar will remain in detention, but he will remain in custody at least overnight Wednesday.
Anwar was arrested outside his home earlier in the day when he was removed from his car and taken to the police headquarters.
A 23-year-old aide alleged last month that he was sodomized by Anwar, who denies the allegation. He says it is part of a conspiracy by the government to wreck his political career.
